Wacky Packages Special Edition Book W Signatures ToppsWacky packgaes special edition book w signatures topps. This auction is for a special edition signed wacky packages book! A small lot of 233 of the first printing have bene signed by the two contributing authors and legendary wacky packages artists art spiegelman and jay lynch. Jay adn art were instrumental in the conception of wacky packages in the 60's and jay has continued to work on them through the recent ans series 2004-2008.
Art spiegelman is a pullitzer prize winning author and is a difficult signature to obtain. Note on validity each book will come with a $1 bill as a bookmark the seiral number of that bill will be written on the lower left corner of the same page as the signatures. Valid serial numbers are any from 90307701 to 90307933. If anybody has a book they aren't sure about they can send us a scan and we acn verify it by comparing the handwriting of the serial number to our scans, which will never have been made public. These measures will make the signed books nearly 100% impossible to counterfeit.
This first edition wacky pack book features series 1-7 from 1973-74 and contains the followingincluded rae three never before published lost wackys (actual stickers) exclusively available only with this book, and a version of muller beer not seen since 1967. Hardcover with dust jacket, measuring 5 7/8 wide, 7 1/2 high, 1 thick, 240 pages, 1 lb 3 ounces. A total fo 14,150 first editions were printed. The pages are stitched in, rather than just glued. It's more expensive to produced a stitched book and it's a lot more durable. Abrams went the extra mile on that to make a better product. There are special forwards by legendary wacky pack artists art spiegelman and jay lynch. Art spiegelman was a pioneer in wacky packages, conceiving all of the 1st series titles you remember from 1973. He went on to win the pulitzer prize in 1992.
He hasn't talked about wackys in decades so this article is greatly anticipated. Jay lynch has been involved in wackys since the 60's conceiving over half of the 70's wackys and he ahs a keen perspective on the genre.
